Characteristics of rale.
Rattles can be wet, dry, whistling, crepitant and etc. Dry rattles develop due to the presence of the narrowing obstacle that prevents the passing of an air stream. The wet – in case of the liquid presence. The tone of rale depends on the diameter of the affected airways and viscosity of liquid. So, the smaller diameter of the affected bronchial tube, the higher will be tones of a rale. Also, rales can arise on a breath or an exhalation.
